
Data on lending and deposit rates of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs), excluding regional rural banks and small finance banks, has been released for March 2026.
Key Highlights
1. Lending Rates
- The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans was 8.44% in February 2026, slightly lower than 8.49% in January 2026.
- The WALR on outstanding rupee loans decreased to 9.00% in February 2026, from 9.04% in January 2026.
- The 1-year median MCLR declined to 8.40% in March 2026, compared to 8.45% in February 2026.
- Lending rates on both fresh and outstanding loans declined across different sectors.
- The share of EBLR-linked loans in total outstanding floating rate loans increased to 65.4% in December 2025, from 64.9% in September 2025.
- The share of MCLR-linked loans slightly decreased to 32.0%, from 32.2% in September 2025.
2. Deposit Rates
- The weighted average domestic term deposit rate (WADTDR) on fresh deposits was 5.65% in February 2026, slightly lower than 5.66% in January 2026.
- The WADTDR on outstanding deposits declined to 6.62% in February 2026, from 6.64% in January 2026.
