Punjab National Bank Agra ZO has ordered staff to work on 26 March 2026 – the day declared as holiday for the celebration of Ram Navami. The Bulandshahr Circle Office has ordered its staff to work on the designated holiday.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has declared a public holiday for all government offices and banks on the occasion of Ram Navami. As per the latest notification, 26 March 2026 and 27 March 2026 have been declared holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
The culture of forcing employees to work on declared public holidays must be stopped. When the government officially notifies a holiday under laws like the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, it is meant to be respected by all institutions, including banks and offices.
Asking staff to report to duty on such occasions not only goes against the spirit of the holiday but also affects employee morale, work-life balance, and mental well-being. Festivals like Ram Navami hold religious and cultural importance, and employees deserve the right to observe them with their families.
