AIPNBOA Units raise voice against new PLI Scheme

The All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association (AIPNBOA) has raised concerns over the disparity in Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) payouts among bank officers. The letter has been written by Munish Kumar, Assistant General Secretary (AGS), Amritsar Zone, and addressed to Shri Dilip Saha, General Secretary of AIPNBOA.

In the letter, the association highlighted that there is a significant gap in PLI payouts between officers up to Scale III and those in Scale IV and above, as per the HRDD Circular No. 944/2025 dated March 17, 2026. It was pointed out that officers in higher scales are receiving disproportionately higher PLI amounts compared to junior officers. This large gap has led to growing dissatisfaction among officers, especially those working at the branch level.

The association emphasized that officers up to Scale III form the backbone of banking operations. They are directly involved in business generation, customer service, and achieving organizational targets. Despite their important contribution, their incentives are much lower, which is being seen as unfair.

AIPNBOA is one of the largest associations in the banking industry
and is an important part of AIBOC.

At the same time, the association clearly stated that it respects the higher responsibilities of senior officers and does not oppose higher PLI for Scale IV and above officers. However, it stressed that the current structure lacks a balanced and equitable distribution system. It also highlighted that officers working at the grassroots level deserve proper recognition and fair incentives.

The association has demanded a more equitable distribution of PLI across all officer levels, ensuring fairness and inclusivity. It has requested that the issue be taken up with the bank management and has suggested specific actions such as:

  • Reviewing the existing PLI structure to ensure fair distribution across all scales
  • Reducing the excessive gap between PLI payouts of Scale IV & above and officers up to Scale III

The association expressed confidence that this genuine concern will receive attention and that appropriate action will be taken in the interest of the officer community. This issue has now become a major topic of discussion among bank employees, highlighting the need for a more transparent and balanced incentive system in public sector banks.
